THE Rotary Club of Eumundi’s recent big bush dance fund-raiser at the House with No Steps in Doonan shone a light on the valuable work of three local animal charities; the RSPCA Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Eumundi, The Friends of the Hound – Greyhound Adoption and the RSPCA Animal Care Centre Noosa.
President of Eumundi Rotary Greg Molyneux presented representatives of each of the organisations with a cheque for $1000 each at a recent Rotary meeting to help each organisation with their mounting operational costs.
A highlight of the presentation was the presence of Lochie, a photogenic, adopted greyhound whose meeting behaviour was without blemish.
“Our club, led by our event co-ordinator for the bush dance Bronwyn Innes, partnered with the three animal charities enjoying plenty of fun and friendship at the bush dance while concurrently raising much needed funds for each of the charities,” Mr Molyneux said.
“Generous sponsorship for the bush dance was received from many donors with the Member for Noosa Glen Elmes leading the way together with Tewantin Noosa RSL, Maroochy RSL, Colin Crawford, Rockcote, Gregson and Weight, the Ginger Factory and many local businesses within Eumundi and surrounding district.”
Mr Molyneux confirmed that the club had plans to raise funds each year from its signature event, the Summer All Over Long Lunch, to be held under the trees at the Original Eumundi Markets site, on Sunday 17 March next year, for up to 350 guests.
The goal is to raise $10,000 for chosen charities through ticket sales and sponsorship as a contribution to local community improvement services and projects.
