Thursday’s girls are full of hope

By Hollie Harris

THE Thursday Girls held their final function for 2016 last Thursday at The Waterfront Restaurant on Gympie Terrace.
The fund-raiser was held to raise money for children in our local region who are financially struggling to pay for their education expenses.
There are many families who cannot afford to pay for the extra things many other children are lucky to have access to for their education.
School excursions, sports and special school equipment are just a few things that many of our schoolkids are unable to afford and these fund-raisers help allow these kids to have access to a better future.
The Thursday Girls, Carol Donovan, Sally Page, Barbara Harris, Di Kirby, Neridah Rooseboom, Liz Meikle and Dorothy Maloney work with school principals and chaplains to direct the much-needed funds to those who desperately need it.
The end of year luncheon was a huge success with over 140 people in attendance for a beautiful Christmas themed event by the river and was a fantastic fund-raiser.
Many of the guests said it felt wonderful to give back at this time of year when so many of us receive so much.
The Thursday Girls would like to give a very big thankyou to everyone who contributed to such a successful fund-raising luncheon.
