Nothing but ‘net

The Noosa Council is holding an information night for anyone who wants to know more about local internet connections and services.

Noosa Council is holding an internet information night for business owners who are tired of slow internet connections.
The council’s economic development advisor Carolyn Bullen said the business community had been telling the council that it was hard to access reliable, fast and affordable broadband services.
“We’ve gathered representatives from various telcos to explain the services available and help resolve some of the issues people may be experiencing,” she said.
The free event is being held in partnership with Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sunshine Coast and is part of Noosa Council’s #NoosaConnects event series.
The information evening is open to all businesses of all sizes working from any location and will help business owners understand broadband services currently available for business, and the costs, the broadband services that will be available with the arrival of the NBN, when and how to connect to the NBN and other fast broadband options available.
“State and Federal government representatives will also be there to talk about grants to help businesses get digital ready, and skill development programs, many of which are free or low cost, that exist to help businesses grow,” Ms Bullen said.
Event goers can also talk to business people who have successfully navigated the digital journey and are now saving time and money, and finding new ways to sell products and communicate with their target audiences.
There is also the opportunity to see first hand some of the software and programs that will help save time and money. Telcos attending include Telstra, Optus, NBN Co, TPG, Big Air, Our Community Broadband, Flash Fibres and Noosa Telecom and the list is growing.
The digital connectivity event builds on the success of the first #NoosaConnects event held last year where over 230 people attended.
RDA CEO Darrell Edwards said RDA was pleased to partner with the council to host it.
“RDA is pleased to support this event, which is also a perfect opportunity to talk about the capacity-building programs we’re rolling out with the State Government,” he said.
This free event is on Wednesday 19 April, from 5pm to 7.30pm, at The J Noosa. Register at www.noosa.qld.gov.au/noosa-connects, via Noosa Council Facebook page/events and via twitter @noosaconnects, or phone 5329 6108, if the internet is too slow.
