Clean-up help after Cyclone Debbie

Council has extended the free garden waste drop-off period to help residents still cleaning up in the wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Residents can now drop off their garden waste for free at Noosa’s waste facilities until the end of next weekend.
Council’s local disaster co-ordinator Alan Rogers said council crews were busy removing fallen trees and branches from roads and parks, so they didn’t have the capacity to drive around collecting up piles of green waste from private properties, or the roadside.
“We would really appreciate residents’ help cleaning up after ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie,” he said.
“We simply don’t have the capacity to collect garden rubbish placed in the street. So if you have a garden waste bin, make sure you fill it up. You also can drop off your garden waste for free at any of council’s three waste facilities until the end of next weekend.”
Council’s Eumundi-Noosa Road landfill, at 561 Eumundi-Noosa Road, Doonan, is open from 7am to 5pm seven days a week.
The Cooroy Transfer Station, on Mary River Road, is open 8am-1pm, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, only.
The Pomona Transfer Station, on the corner of Louis Bazzo Drive and Pomona Kin Kin Road, is open 8am-1pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.
As the clean-up in Noosa continues, Noosa Council CEO Brett de Chastel said, on behalf of the whole community he would like to thank all emergency services and council staff involved in the storm response.
“Local Energex crews and SES have done a great job and our council staff have gone above and beyond to get our Noosa region cleaned up after this significant weather event,” he said.
