The Noosa Men’s Shed swung open their doors at the weekend to welcome the community in for their first open day.
The work of the group’s members is becoming more and more visible in the community since its inception in September 2014, and what began with a member base of 40 men has now swelled to 140 members.
Through some great projects and partnerships with local businesses and organisations such as Noosa Council, Unity and the Community Bank branches of Bendigo Bank, Noosa Men’s Shed president John Williams and the team thought it was time to invite the public to see what the group has been doing on the Unity Water land at Noosa Heads.
“Several hundred people visited on the day from the Noosa area, and we’re thrilled so many were interested in what is happening on site,” Mr Williams said.
“The spirit of community was alive and well as the members proudly showed off their amazing facility which includes a woodwork shop, a metalwork shop, large garden, a painting and drawing studio, and an ex-army building which is now our social area for meetings and get-togethers.”
The Men’s Shed will soon have their own electronics workshop, leatherwork shop and re-cycling shed up and running. The Noosa Men’s is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning until noon, and all visitors are welcome.
The Noosa Men’s Shed is located at Wallum Lane in Noosa Heads. There is also a Men’s Shed in Pomona located at 1 Memorial Avenue, Pomona.
