Sunshine Beach resident Mark Panitz, co-driver Rod Gramenz and their $1000 rally car are ready to hit the track to raise funds for cancer research.
Mark, who was diagnosed and successfully treated for bowel cancer, knows all too well about the devastation the disease can cause.
Mark’s sister died from the disease 10 years ago and his sister-in-law died in March, and now Mark is facing a different challenge by taking part in a 3800km rally, driving a car worth less than $1000 from Adelaide to Cairns via the Oodnadatta Track and the Plenty Highway, to raise cancer research funds for the Cancer Council.
With his trusty co-driver Rod, the two men have named their team “Cancer Busters.” They have given an old Falcon a facelift and turned it into a cancer busting machine to tackle some of the most arduous roads through central Australia when the rally starts on 27 May.
Anyone who would like to support Mark and Rod in their rally can donate to the Cancer Busters through shitboxrallyau-2017.everydayhero.com/au/cancerbusters.
