Way works for pedestrians

Council is carrying out work on David Low Way at Peregian Beach to make it safer for pedestrians, with work to start 18 April and lasting at least a week.
Councillor Brian Stockwell said council would do the work at night to minimise traffic delays.
“We’ll divert traffic along Peregian Esplanade on nights when construction work is underway,” he said.
Council will raise the pedestrian crossing north of the Heron Street roundabout, to improve safety by slowing down vehicle traffic.
“We will also be constructing a pedestrian refuge to the north of the Heron Street roundabout to further improve safety for pedestrians crossing the road,” Cr Stockwell said.
“Once finished, this work will provide a safer link between the eastern side of David Low Way and the future community house, new open space, vegie village, new digital hub and kindy on the western side of the road.”
Cr Stockwell said council had listened to the community’s concerns about pedestrian access and safety.
