10 minutes stage for fame

By Hollie Harris

Returning to Noosa Arts after the overwhelming success last year, this will again be a fast-moving selection of ten 10-minute, highly entertaining plays from stellar casts in South East Queensland.
The 10 plays this year come from a cross section of groups and actors including regulars Suncoast Repertory Theatre, Little Seeds Theatre Company, Noosa Arts Theatre and last year’s winner Miranda’s Dressing Room.
This year there are entries from acting buddies who are hooking up to enter including Julia Verburght and Steve Mitchell in the drama, Celine Dion Songbook by Alex Broun, a story where love means something very different from the dream like love Celine Dion sings about.
Neil Nash and Stuart Koy team up to present The Eleventh Minute by Marika Barnett – a play about a man who has written the greatest ten minute play in the history of the universe! the only problem is … ..it’s one minute too long.
Coast actress and writer Rainee Skinner has two new works. Another new work comes from the pen of coast resident Wendy Holman – a sparkling monologue comedy performed by Wendy herself and called “The Margarita Syndrome”.
Miranda’s Dressing Room are doing an intense piece of drama called “Fugue” and welcome to their stable Patrick Reed and the brilliant sisters MacMahon – Anna and Sarah along with Jenni McCaul.
After the Sunday performance is our sausage sizzle followed (once all the votes are counted) by the presentation. One of the joys of this genre of theatre is that there is always something to please in this smorgasbord and the plays only last 10 minutes.
Again, the audience has the voting power to choose the winning play and the winner takes home the $500 prize money.
Dates: 27 May, 2pm and 28 May, 2pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are Adult $25 / Concession $20 and can be purchased by calling 5449 9343 or jumping on www.noosaartstheatre.org.au
