Motorcycle enthusiasts to support local charities in annual Poker Run

In the lead up to the King of the Mountain Festival on 23 July is the 11th annual Poker Run on Sunday 2 July.
Proudly supported by the Cooroy-Pomona Lions Club, riders and their passengers will enjoy a scenic trip through the hinterland and can join in on a friendly game of poker along the way by collecting cards from designated stops. The holder of the best poker hand at the end of the day is declared the winner and there are additional random prize draws during the day.
Last year saw over 200 riders participate in the Cooroy-Pomona Lions Club major fund-raiser.
Event organisers are urging this year’s motorcycle participants to ride safely, obey the road rules and take their time to enjoy the scenic route.
All efforts are made to ensure the safest route possible and that all card pick up locations can accommodate large groups of motorcyclists. Volunteers are briefed on the route and greet participants along the way to provide guidance and riders are encouraged to make the most of the good company and the beautiful scenery.
Cost of entry is $20 per rider (including poker hand) plus $10 per pillion (non-poker hand). Registrations commence from 7.30am at Stan Topper Park, Pomona. Bacon and egg muffins will be available to purchase before a 9am departure. Free tea and coffee and delicious home-made morning tea is also offered to participants.
The ride culminates at the Pomona Bowls club where riders can enjoy a beer during the raffle prize draws and winner’s presentation, and a free sausage sizzle.
As a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to serving and supporting the local community, fund-raising is an important part of the day and all entry fees go towards helping the Cooroy-Pomona Lions support a wide range of local charities and school programs.
