A mutual love of textiles is the common thread for three long-time friends who are known as accomplished artists, practitioners and teachers. Helen McIntosh, Cathy Moon and Sybil Orr showcase their talents in a fabulous fibre exhibition, “Partners in Textile“, in Cooroy from Friday 11 August until Tuesday 19 September.
The Butter Factory Art Centre is the perfect location for the exhibition of recent works which is a kaleidoscope of colourful artworks and jewellery from the three fibre artists.
Butter Factory Arts Centre co-ordinator Cathy Money said that there will be something for everyone, including the men, at the grand opening scheduled for Saturday 12 August, from 10am.
“This will be a colourful, fun-filled Opening. These three amazing artists will meet and chat with visitors on this very special day and have also arranged a whole host of other activities and events to enrich the visitor experience.”
A number of unique Artists’ Stalls and other providers will provide displays and product information. A free art raffle will add to the fun. This will launch and be drawn during grand opening day, and the lucky winner will receive a piece of art by Helen McIntosh.
Sybil Orr will give an artist talk “Textiles & Texture“ at 11.30am. A light lunch and refreshments will be served from noon. The exhibition will be officially opened at 1pm by guest speaker Janet de Boer, OAM.
Cathy Moon is running a shibori workshop at the Butter Factory on Saturday 19 August sharing the beautiful art of shibori dyeing to the beginner as well as those with some experience. Helen McIntosh will be on site for two Saturdays offering an insight into her love of fibre, themes and her ways of working on Saturdays 19 August and 16 September, from 11am until noon.
