Pirates on track for finals glory

Last Sunday saw the Noosa Pirates travel to Caloundra to take on the Sharks in a knock-out final of the 2017 season.
The winners of this clash would continue their road to a possible premiership. The losers would commiserate with a drink or 20 in the coming days!
The Pirates showed their hand by introducing first gamer Blake Wilson straight into the action and it didn’t take long for the debutant to show what he could do, crossing in the corner to give the Pirates a dream start to proceedings.
The Pirates showed why they will be a major threat in these finals, appearing in control from the first whistle.
Half time saw the Pirates in front by 20 points to four.
Coach Ron Greentree knew that the task was only half done, and told his charges like only he can, what needed to be done.
The players responded in kind, and with great support from the crowd who came to cheer their team on, the Pirates were relentless in the remainder of the match.
When the final buzzer blew, Noosa were victorious by 40 points to 18.

Last Saturday saw the Division 2 Noosa Pirates travel to Maroochydore to take on Maroochydore in their knock-out finals clash.
Maroochydore took control early in the match leading by 10 points after 14 minutes of play. The Pirates dug deep and contained their opponents who had the favour of a strong breeze in the first half which they utilised to their advantage, extending the lead to 16 points at the main break.
The second half saw the Pirates battle manfully yet were unable to overcome their opponents, succumbing to a 34 points to four loss.
Although this was not the final result that the players were hoping for, they can hold their heads high on what has been a very turbulent season for all concerned.

This Saturday sees the Noosa Pirates travel to Kawana to take on the Dolphins in a match that will decide who has the right to play in the grand final against Maroochydore.
Pirates support will be needed this week so get along to Kawana and cheer the team on – it is important to you club and your team.
The game is at 5.30pm, Saturday 26 August. Bring a jumper and a blanket because it will be cold.
All Pirates supporters, wear your team colours and let’s create a wave of blue and gold and cheer the boys to victory!
