Softball season off to great start

Softball action in Noosa.

NOOSA SOFTBALL
Noosa’s junior softballers from Little Leaguers to Under 17s are settling in to the summer season after a week off last week due to the rain.
The Little Leaguers – with boys and girls aged from 4-10 years – are continuing to develop their ball skills, with many of them new to the sport and quickly learning the skills to help them progress into higher grades.
In the Under 13s there was strong batting by both Redsox and Slammers teams but Slammers’ fielders had the upper glove as they allowed only three Redsox players to get home, while scoring 14 runs themselves. Liam, Ethan, Tex and Lewis had strong hits to the outfield. Ethan and Erin bagged good fly catches.
In the Under 15s, Redsox lined up against Dodgers 2 in a close game where both teams were evenly matched. Alana struck four strong hits and Ethan scored a three-bagger. Nick was consistent with good pitching.
In the second Under 15s match, Slammers and Dodgers 1 played a ‘friendly’ which saw some strong hitting, especially from Sami who scored a home run, and Ashton.
The Under 17s had a strong match where fun was definitely the name of the game.
Seniors also played on Saturday, with a social game and a men’s match in the afternoon.
Softball is played every Saturday at the Noosa District Softball Grounds in Tewantin and new and experienced players are still welcome to join the competition.
Training is held in the afternoons – Dodgers on Monday and Thursday, Redsox on Wednesday, and Slammers on Thursday.
