October was International Breast Cancer Awareness Month so the Noosa Malibu Club combined their monthly club round to fund-raise for the Cindy McKenzie Breast Cancer Program.
With lots of pink food and pink attire, the local surfing club members donated a gold coin to surf and purchased pink morning tea items that members had donated.
Club president Glen Gower said everyone got into the swing of the day and “Pinked it Up for Pinktober”.
“Every little bit helps, and the club was keen to help spread important awareness and prevention messages,” he said.
The Cindy McKenzie Breast Cancer Program supports local Sunshine Coast families affected by breast cancer.
The program honours the memory of Sunshine Coast mum Cindy Mackenzie who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer in 2006, aged 39.
Government figures in 2015 revealed that the risk of a woman being diagnosed with breast cancer by their 85th birthday is one in eight.
Breast cancer is still impacting far too many of our loved ones. Donations can be made online at www.pinktober.com.au.
