There were celebrations in Noosa today for the ‘yes’ vote for marriage equality.
In the Wide Bay electorate, which covers Noosa, some 55.6 per cent of voters said ‘yes’, below the Australian average vote of 61.5 per cent, with a creditable 79.5 percent of local voters participating.
In Queensland, 1,487,060 voters said ‘yes’ for a result of 60.7 per cent in favour, just shy of the national average.
Only three Queensland electorates recorded a ‘no’ majority vote.
