NOOSA’S sandcastle artist Arron McCormick has been given the green light – with some conditions – to continue his creative passion following the surprise announcement by the Noosa Council to offer him a permit.

Noosa Council offers permit to sandcastle man Arron McCormick.
Noosa Council has offered a permit to Arron McCormick, the sandcastle sculptor who was operating a business on Main Beach recently. The permit will contain conditions which are common to other activities such as beach licences and busking.
Mayor Noel Playford says the permit will allow sand sculpting and receiving voluntary donations, but will not allow selling items or otherwise carrying on a business.
However, the Council says Mr McCormick will still need to provide his own public liability insurance, just as everyone with a permit to use public land is required to do under state legislation.
Mayor Noel Playford says the permit offer has taken longer than usual to process.
“Mr McCormick didn’t provide the necessary details to process his application at first. When he did, staff had to contact the insurance company that provides the buskers’ public liability policy held by Council. Mr McCormick has now been advised that the policy does not cover his activities”.
