Noosa playwright David Williamson will again bring the Queensland premiere of his latest play Sorting Out Rachel to the Noosa Alive Festival in March after the production’s world premiere at the Ensemble Theatre, Sydney from 19 January to 17 March.
Actor John Howard stars in the production as Bruce, a sharp business operator who knows how to twist a good deal but has not taken so much care when it comes to family matters and feels it may be time to make amends.
His thoughts turn to his exasperated daughter, her social climbing husband and granddaughter Tess who is so much like him.
Can Bruce solve his family issues without giving away a long-held secret? And who is Tess?
Howard has a string of credits to his name including films Mad Max, Last Cab to Darwin and Jindabyne and television shows Seachange, All Saints and Packed to the Rafters. Newcomer Jenna Owens plays Bruce’s granddaughter Rachel, of the play’s title.
