Six of the Best

Six writers, six stories – that’s the basis for an unusual new book by an even more unusual group of authors whose latest contribution to the local literary scene is to be launched on 6 April at 5.30pm at Noosa Arts and Crafts Association’s Wallace House.
Disobedient Tumbleweeds, the catchy title of their latest anthology, is taken from a line in author Celia Esplin’s Villa Sangiovese, a steamy tale of a family’s lust, debauchery and devil-worship set amongst the vineyards of Tuscany.
‘Words, like disobedient tumbleweeds, can beguile and entrance, and lead the reader down untrodden paths,’ says Celia. And leading the reader down these diverse paths is precisely what each member of the group has set out to achieve, each taking a separate route to arrive at a different destination.
The six self-contained novellas span the four corners of the globe and cover a plethora of topics – from murder and mystery in an English village to a dramatic hostage-taking-gone-wrong on the Sunshine Coast; from a satirical romp in a Noosa-lookalike seaside town to the devastating consequences of a nuclear disaster on a fictional family in a remote region of Russia.
The book, which will be introduced by Noosa Mayor Tony Wellington, will be available at all good bookstores and selected gift shops from the end of next week.RSVP to sheila.r.mason@gmail.com
