More than 150 people gathered at the spit at Noosa about 5.30am on Easter Sunday for a brief service conducted by Noosa Anglican Church Reverend Mark Calder to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
A religious ceremony has been held at the site for about 20 years on Easter morning to deliver a message to the Christian followers.
“We recalled the hope and joy this message brings and that through Jesus’ death and resurrection any one who wants to can be forgiven and receive God’s gift of eternal life with him,” Rev’d Calder said.
Doves were released at the end of the service, symbolising new beginnings and a rainbow over the river was evident as it concluded, he said.
