IT will be a first-time experience for many and a nostalgic trip down memory lane for others when Starry Night Outdoor Movies host their first “pop up” drive-in with a screening of ‘The Goonies’ in Eumundi tomorrow night.
The event will take place in the Eumundi Markets Carpark on Napier Road, with gates opening at 5pm and the screening starting at 6.30pm.
After many years of hosting outdoor movies, Starry Nights director Trent Harvison is excited to be making his drive-in dream a reality.
“With its fabulous sense of history and passion for the arts, Eumundi is the perfect location for a monthly drive-in screening,” Trent said.
“Car spaces are limited to around 100 vehicles, and there will be no pre-booking for this screening – simply first in, best dressed,” he said.
“There will also be capacity for ‘walk ins’, so bring your chairs and rugs for that option.
“For our first drive-in, entry will simply be by donation, and there’ll be wood-fired pizzas and snacks for sale, including the all-essential popcorn.
“We’ve had a custom-made 10m x 6m inflatable screen built that will be teamed with a massive professional digital projector,” Trent said.
“Sound will be transmitted via the car’s FM radio Eumundi Drive-in, and we’ll have speakers down the front for our ‘walk in’ guests.”
