CHRISTIAN Butterworth may only be 12 years old, but he’s shown he can play alongside the men is his home club championship at Peregian Springs Golf Club.
Played over two weekends and 72 hole, Christian showed his talent, consistency and skill to take out the 2014 Men’s Club Championship and the Junior Championship simultaneously.
His recent international experience saw Christian place third in the Future Champions World Junior Championship in the USA and give the young player some extra confidence in his latest challenge.
Peregian Springs Juniors performed exceptionally well during the championships, with Cooper Eccleston, 14, as runner-up in the Men’s Championship and Shania Herzog-Smith, 16, placing as the Ladies’ Champion for 2014.
Peregian Springs CEO Declan McCollam said the junior players demonstrated advanced mental toughness.
“They have both the skill and mental aptitude required to do very well in this sport.
“We congratulate them,” he said.
