The J Theatre in Noosa are thrilled to announce that they have been extremely lucky in securing two performances of the very exciting and unique shadow puppetry production ‘Slapdash Galaxy – Shadow Puppets in Space’ by award-winning puppetry theatre company, Bunk Puppets, these coming winter school holidays.
Bunk Puppets specialise in innovative, quirky, exciting shadow puppetry productions for children and their families. Straight from sell-out seasons at Edinburgh Fringe and their UK tour, Bunk Puppet’s newest creation is ‘Slapdash Galaxy – Shadow Puppets in Space’.
Spokesperson Kate Sanders says “we have worked hard to bring this fantastic puppetry production to Noosa and especially to have a 6.30pm performance for the working parents that might usually miss out on seeing daytime shows with their children”.
Slapdash Galaxy is the tale of Sam and Junior: two brothers who must flee their barren planet, and embark on an epic quest across the galaxy. It features amazing effects such as shooting smoke rings that are bigger than a car and alien puppets made from bits of rubbish. Embracing recycling by using the contents from a cleaning closet, Bunk Puppets conjures up astonishing lo-fi theatrical wizardry using only old boxes, bubble wrap, drinking straws, tennis balls, ping pong bats and old toys.
With their unusual, comical and hugely imaginative approach to puppetry and theatrical effects-making, Bunk Puppets have earned international acclaim with recent tours throughout Egypt, Japan, China, UK, Germany, Dubai, New Zealand and Off Broadway in New York City.
The J Theatre look forward to welcoming Bunk Puppets on their first visit to Noosa on Wednesday 4th of July.
