St Teresa’s student Jack Caspers, 13, has become the first Sunshine Coast to receive the Shane Watson award after being selected to represent the Sunshine Coast Scorchers in the Les Kinnane Memorial Cricket Shield held this month in Ipswich.
The Sunshine Coast Scorchers picked up silver going down to Brisbane North in the finals after a hot and frenetic week of cricket.
Jack was awarded the 2019 Championship player and picked up the Shane Watson All rounder award. This award is given to the player who excels in all facets of the game throughout the whole carnival.
Jack’s highest batting score was 42 not out and he made a total of 108 runs.
He took 8 wickets, 2 caught and bowled and a magnificent direct hit for a run out.
Jack had a fantastic time and hopes his form continues for his current Under 14’s Tewantin Noosa Cricket Club side.
Jack only took up the sport at the age of ten and this is only his third season of summer cricket. Jack plays AFL for the Noosa Tigers in the winter season, certainly a naturally talented sportsperson!
