THE coming of spring means warm days, barbecues and the all-important return of the Australian cricket season.
The Tewantin Noosa junior cricket team are getting ready for a new season with help from the local Tewantin Noosa RSL, who have announced another year of sponsorship for the team.
RSL spokesman Dean Harlow said the club was pleased to be on board again to help the young crickets hit for six.
“The club is pleased to come on board again with the Tewantin Noosa Cricket Club which continues to play an important role in fostering junior players in the local area and serves as a breeding ground for cricketers of the future,” he said.
Tewantin Noosa Cricket Club representative Christopher Bennett said the club appreciated the support from local organisations such as the RSL.
“Their generous sponsorship allows us to keep our junior gear up to date and helps make cricket an affordable sport for local families,” he said.
Junior training has commenced on Wednesday afternoons at 4pm and players who have not yet had the opportunity to sign on can do so during the training sessions. New players are welcome, regardless of experience. The club is hoping that the recent wet weather is over so that the club’s new ground can be ready in time for the start of the season.
