WHILE last week saw the last game of the year with the final round for younger age groups for this year, the Dolphins will be proudly represented in semi-finals in all age groups from under-12s through to under-18s this weekend.
UNDER 6 REDS
As the curtains came down on a very enjoyable season, the Caloundra boys proved able opponents for the Noosa Reds. Conor crashed and Darcy dashed, Zac smashed and Harry bashed, Angus’ attack was stirling and Stirling’s defence was angry, Noah knows how and Manu manufactured magnificent mileage. Charlie chose to charge as Jax jinked and jived. Jaxon’s drives were missed. Thanks for a great season boys.
Under-6 Reds 40 drew Caloundra 40.
UNDER 6 FINS
Myles took full advantage of the opposition’s momentary lapse of concentration scoring the first try and a second in the closing stages. Gus continued to amaze with his agility and ability with ball in hand, putting down a fabulous three tries and Rory’s obvious talent was again on show with several fantastic catches under the high ball and a well-deserved try late in the first half. George, while defending the Fins’ line with his usual ferocious tenacity, managed a late try in the second half. Brendan made his usual valuable contribution with several forays into opposition territory admirably backed up by Julian, Jackson and Tana.

This my friends is what it’s all about, in the last second of game time in the season, in the last game of the season, Will scores his first try of the season! This try and how it came about encompassed all that the coaching staff wanted to achieve this season. Persistence, team work, knowledge, courage, discipline, fair play and mateship. To take you back, Grammar just scored, 45 seconds to go, kick to us, boys tired, no-one on the bench, Finnbar gathers and bolts forward, tackled, Mack rips and goes forward, tackled, Will and Remy over to secure, Atticus flies in, swoops up ball goes forward, tackled. Byron hunting, still catching his breath from saving 1000 tries by sprinting tackles, stand in Angus gets away, tackled, superbly backed up Joch flies in with the try line in site, boom-tackled, played back, ball’s loose, then in comes Will going forward gathers and scores. You beauty, the Reds crowd goes wild, the team embraces, fist punching coaches and the whistle blows for full time. Wow! what a season.

UNDER 9 REDS
What a machine-like performance we saw from the boys. We had wizards both on and off the field and the magic was shared among the team with seven different try scorers. Jackson with a hat-trick, doubles to Andrew, Kye, Fynn and Hunter and one to Fletcher. The season closes on an extreme high and we look forward to seeing each and every one of the boys back next year. Congratulations to Peter O’Rielly and Fabio Westphal on a great year.

UNDER 9 FINS
An outstanding team effort resulted in nine different try scorers in a scintillating display of running rugby. Both Flynn and Tom scored hat-tricks with Fynn and Mack getting doubles and one each to Joey, Leif, Max, Oliver and Kye. The future looks very bright for this squad of under-9s, and all the parents and the boys would like to thank coaches Peter O’Rielly and Fabio Westphal for their tireless efforts this year.

UNDER 10 REDS

UNDER 10 FINS
The Fins finished the season in style with a convincing win against Grammar. Openings for all four tries came as a result of neat team phases and indefatigable forward drives from Joe S., Joe R., Lauchie C., Ashton, Soren and Jason. Roko, Oliver and Josh displayed skill, speed and intelligence in the backs, while Harry, James and Ethan made crucial tackles throughout the match. As ever, Jarrah and Lockie were both sublime in ensuring all the teamwork paid off on the scoresheet. Thanks to all under-10 Fins for making this such an entertaining and satisfying season. See you next year. Try Scorers: Lockie Dudgeon 3, Jarrah Charlesworth. Conversions: Jarrah 3, Lockie.

UNDER 13
In a display of faultless rugby, the under-13s secured the minor premiership with a resounding win over the mighty Maroochydore under-13 Swans. The spoils of the game were shared around the team. Tries to Tom Payne, Koen Clark, Harry Barnett, Luke Bourne and Tavita Roma were made possible by the player-of-the-match performance from Tom McNamara. Tom was unstoppable. Tom Payne’s radar was well tuned adding three conversions. The game was played at a fierce pace with ample aggression from both sides. Jack Frey consistently exhibits the values of rugby with his tough-but-fair approach to the game. Jack was a worthy recipient of the spirit of rugby award this week. Now for the finals!
