“Nothing short of spectacular” is how Peter Thynne described the response to the Noosa Tigers recently launched promotional campaign.
Peter, who heads up the Noosa Tigers AFL Support group – The Richmonds – said the club is being “inundated with commitments for memberships and sponsorships” and new players are “coming out of the woodwork”. The Richmonds and Noosa Today launched the membership/sponsorship drive – Go Tigers – over the Australia Day weekend, to lift the profile of the club and boost its budget. “Late last year I pulled together a group of local businessmen and AFL tragic to assist the club financially for season 2014 and beyond,” Peter said. “Having the club in a strong financial position takes the burden off the committee and frees them up to more effectively run the club to a high professional standard.” Noosa Tigers have launched a ‘sister’ club relationship with Richmond AFL Club – also known as the Tigers – hence the name of the support group. “We have supplied them with three, all-inclusive Noosa holiday prizes to raffle nationally via their 19 supporter groups, with proceeds being shared equally with the Noosa Tigers,” Peter said. “We are being inundated with commitments for memberships and sponsorships. The $25 Surf Club meal voucher [supplied by Peter] with each $25 membership is going down extremely well, with many of those members who also have businesses, upgrading to fence signage as well. “New players are coming out of the woodwork, local residents who have been in the area either recently or for some time are clamouring aboard for memberships and all expressing their excitement for the coming season. “Sponsors and members are getting the vibe that they are going to get some serious ‘bang for their buck’ this season. We are upgrading all fence signage, with fresh and clean logos and the standardisation of fence sign sizes. “We are also signing up some excellent guest speakers for our pre-game Presidents lunches. There are nine home games this season and half of these spots have been filled with high calibre, interesting and relevant speakers. The coach will also give 10 minute ‘what to expect from the game’ pre-game addresses at those lunches and they will be MC’d by our very own and effervescent Julian Pitts.”
