Little club with a big heart

CHILDREN of the ‘Kindness Club’ at Cooroy outside school hours care have collected a total of 10 large boxes of non-perishable groceries for Sunshine Coast families in need.
Kindness Club co-ordinator and educator Wendy Scott said the club wanted to extend a “big thank you” to the local Cooroy community for their support and generous donations.
“The members of the Kindness Club are touched by the way our wonderful community have embraced our little club – we are very grateful.” she said.
The children very proudly handed over their generous donations to Rachael Witten, Business Development manager from Sunny Kids, who assured the children that the food and pantry items will be most appreciated by the families receiving them.
Rachael and Chris Michel, of The Kindness Project, were invited to Cooroy outside school hours care this week to meet the children of the Kindness Club and to collect the groceries. Children showed Rachael and Chris through their Kindness Club book outlining their activities to date and asked lots of questions about their roles at Sunny Kids and The Kindness Project.
“The children are genuinely interested in helping others and are constantly coming up with new ideas for sharing kindness,” educator Lisa Hill said.
“Our Kindness Club is growing each week, with more and more children attending.”
The Kindness Club’s next activity will be at the ‘Inspiring Cooroy’ event on Thursday 28 August. The Kindness Club will have representatives at the event to greet attendees and to collect more groceries on the night, which will again be forwarded to Sunny Kids.
For more information about the Kindness Club, or to share ideas, please call Wendy Scott or Lisa Hill on 5447 7622 or by email cooroy_oshc@bigpond.com
