New options for Disability Accommodation

The introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is providing exciting new opportunities for some families to access Specialist Disability Accommodation to allow adults living with

disabilities to move towards independent living.

This area however, has proven to be a minefield to navigate, so to make the job easier for families, local disability support service Sunshine Butterflies has bought in the experts for a specialist Information Session for all families on the Sunshine Coast who want to know more about these accommodation options for their loved ones.

This information session to be held on Friday 13 September aims to provide families with a better understanding of how Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) entitlements work.

The information session explore how your son or daughter may receive entitlements, added to your NDIS plan, and how to access long-term property solutions that provide an opportunity to achieve

better independence, privacy and security while receiving full Supported Independent Living (SIL) support.

In attendance at the Information Session will be guest speakers Steve Dawson from SDA Home Choices, specialist disability accommodation coordinators, and Greg Barry from SDA Services,

Registered NDIS Support Coordinators specialising in assisting NDIS Participants to realise their housing dreams.

SDA Home Choices is a private local company that has specialist property knowledge on how the NDIS/SDA works in the real world. During this information briefing they will explain in plain English

how participants and families can firstly obtain rightful entitlements and then how the SDA process works when one wants to secure a property using the new SDA entitlements.

Sunshine Butterflies have the experience and knowledge to provide the Supported Independent Living support and care provision to new properties that will be developed in the Noosa area.

The Information Session, to be held at Sunshine Butterflies headquarters, ‘Our Backyard’, from 11am, will run for 45 minutes to 1 hour followed by 20 minutes of question time.

“Our Backyard” is located at 468 McKinnon Drive, Cooroibah, just 5 minutes from Tewantin. SDA entitlements are only available to 6% of NDIS participants so please contact Sunshine

Butterflies to check your eligibility and to register your interest in attending.

Families from across the Sunshine Coast are welcome to attend this informative session.

RSVP’s are essential. Numbers are strictly limited. Book your place by calling 5470 2830.
