Some girls will do anything for a good cause!

Noosa-based Jally Entertainment is about to hit the road with the outrageous comedy Calendar Girls – travelling through five Australian states with 56 performances in 46 different venues!

But before they go, for one night only, you can catch the show at The Majestic Theatre in Pomona on Saturday, March 8, at 8pm.  With a cast and crew of 13 people, this tour is the largest production to be constructed by Jally Entertainment. The travel and accommodation logistics alone have been months in the planning with the cast now in rehearsals for this very exciting venture. Calendar Girls – starring Marion Johnson, Alli Pope-Bailey, Blossom Goodchild, Yvie Somerville, Madison Thew-Keyworth, Rachel Hunt, Brianna Schlect, Liz Blackett, John Sayles, Ian Hodson and Harry Bayliss – will open at the Events Centre Caloundra on Friday, March 7, before heading to Pomona, and then out of town. Based on the true story of 11 Women’s Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls became the fastest selling play in British theatre history, received the What’s On Stage Award for Best New Comedy in 2010 and is now a worldwide comedy hit! In this version, when Annie’s husband John dies from leukaemia, she and her best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new sofa in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women’s Institute members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar. With their modesty spared only by artfully placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements, and a little help from the hospital porter and an amateur photographer, they complete their calendar. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales (UK). The calendar is a huge success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame. To catch this must-see before it leaves town book your tickets online at www.majestictheatre.com.au or phone 5485 2330 for more information.
