Little Leo Ellis, mum and dad, Lisa and Campbell and grandparents, Deb and Terry Mooney, were among the 70-plus wellwishers who turned up to support Leo and the HeartKids’ fundraiser at Lions Park last Saturday.
Recently we told how death was little more than a heartbeat away for Leo due to a congenital heart defect and how in the first five months of his life he had five major heart operations, including open heart surgery.
We reported how the charity HeartKids had been a huge help to the Ellis family and Lisa and Campbell wanted to give something back, hence the fundraiser.
Mum Lisa was over the moon. “It’s just gone from strength to strength. We started out thinking we would aim for $2,000 but thanks to the support of Noosa Today and so many other friends, it will be definitely more than $10,500.”
Grandparents Deb and Terry came from Tamworth for the fundraiser. Said Terry, “I’m overwhelmed. The support has been amazing.”
