LOCAL business Sketch, Noosa Junction, has been dressing women is stylish, designer gowns for more than 30 years.
Designer and business owner Gaibriel Hudson first opened Sketch in 1984, and is proud to celebrate 30 years in the industry.
Gaibriel was formally trained by her grandmother, who made clothes for the then first lady, Margaret Whitlam.
The art of designing and creating clothing came naturally to Gaibriel, who won the QLD Fashion Design Award for resort wear, as well as a swag of award for swimwear, formal wear and city wear, throughout her career, and a feature in the bi-centennial edition of Studio magazine.
Add to the already impressive resume, an invitation to showcase her clothing at Expo 88, photo shoots in Paris, features in major magazines, and many celebrities who own one of Gaibriel’s designs.
Gaibriel stocked Sketch with her award-winning designs, as well as supplied over 160 stores throughout Australia.
“Designing is in my blood,” she said. “Wherever I go, you will find a trail of designs scribbled on bits of paper; the next creation about to come to life.”
Gaibriel still stocks her own designs in Sketch, but has expanded to include other labels, too.
While the business has endured highs and lows, Gabriel said her love for designing beautiful gowns had kept her going for 30 years.
“If I didn’t love what I do, the 80 hour weeks sometimes needed to meet the bridal and wholesale deadlines, would not have been possible,” she said.
“I would like to thank the thousands of women and girls that I have made dresses for because you helped keep me in business and my dream alive.”
