Snow fined for nudity

Police Briefs

A SYDNEY man has been fined for being naked at the popular Alexandria Bay, which is commonly mistaken as a legal nudist beach.
Glenn Snow wasn’t in Noosa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, but entered a plea of guilty to one charge of wilful exposure through his defence lawyer.
The court heard the 44-year-old town planner was naked on A-Bay beach on 1 October when a family with three children, who were bathing nearby, made a complaint to police.
Snow’s defence lawyer said her client had assumed the beach was a legal nudist beach, having bathed there for more than 10 years as a regular visitor to Noosa.
The court heard Snow had no intention of offending anyone and was deeply embarrassed about the incident.
The case highlights the need for clarification in regards to nudity on A-Bay beach, which has been used as a nudist beach for many years, even holding the nude Olympics.
Some locals have called for a change in legislation to legalise nudity on the beach, while others are calling for stricter patrolling from local police.

Weapon charges laid
A 27-YEAR-OLD local chef has been fined for carrying a weapon after police stopped his vehicle in Noosaville.
Kristopher Blizzard pleaded guilty in Noosa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to one count of unlawful possession of a weapon.
The court heard police saw Blizzard’s car swerving across the road before they asked him to pull over.
A search of the vehicle found a Taser gun in Blizzard’s gym bag on the passenger seat of his car.
Blizzard was previously convicted in 2004, when he was 17, for having knuckledusters and nun chucks, which his defence lawyer said were part of his martial arts training gear.
The Taser gun was forfeited to the crown, and Blizzard was fined $400. No conviction was recorded.

Crash case postponed
THE woman charged with crashing her car into a German tourist on Noosa Parade back in May, has had her case adjourned to 25 November.
Nola Burgess was absent from Noosa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, but her defence lawyer appeared on her behalf and asked for the adjournment.
