Out of the park… sweet!

By RICHARD MURRIHY

SOFTBALL

With the temperature rising on Saturday morning all were out early at softball and there were many fine efforts in the conditions, Jed Mikkelsen and Nakita Marris-Whiteley took fly catches as did Charles Schefe, Jacob Poole and Oliver Frye. Jack Murray hit a home run and Charles also picked up a double play.
Ando slotted Cookie out of the park in the first pitch of the senior’s hardball game – it was a sweet hit. Brett Gavin also took a great catch in hardball.
The club thanks all players in all grades that filled in for other teams especially Ethan and Jed.
Softball starts at 8.30 this Saturday and will finish about 5pm after the last Hardball game so all help is appreciated. The club would like to see more players come down and have a go.
Thanks to all the people who supported the cancer fund raiser by wearing pink. There were certainly some interesting outfits including the pink fairy running the bases in the under 17’s. Results: Under 13 – Slammers 12 d Dodgers 8. Redsox Blue 11 d Dodgers 8. Redsox Red 10 d Wildcats 6. Under 15 – Dodgers Blue 12 d Slamcats 4. Dodgers white 8 d Redsox 5.
