THE Christmas in Cooroy street parade is one of the event’s highlights and this year things are turning wild … Wild West that is.
This year’s theme for the Bendigo Bank Street Parade will see things turn country as more than 8000 spectators are expected to line Maple Street for the 10th annual parade.
Bendigo Bank has come to the party, joining as the main sponsor of Christmas in Cooroy with a generous $7000 in support.
Event organiser and Cooroy Chamber of Commerce president Danielle Taylor said 30 other businesses had also come on board to support the ever-popular event.
Cooroy Community Bank branch manager Geoff Edwards said it was great to see everyone so excited for the free community event.
“There are over 40 businesses and community groups, over 100 volunteers and thousands of people that get together to celebrate at Christmas in Cooroy,” he said.
“This event is so much fun and it just gets better each year – it’s truly a fantastic community event.”
Ms Taylor said everyone was encouraged to get involved and enter a float in the Bendigo Bank Street Parade.
“Wild West is a great theme and we expect there will be gunslingers, saloon girls, cowboys, Indians and all sorts of other imaginative creations as well as lots of Christmas themed floats,” she said.
“You don’t have to be based in Cooroy to be involved, it is great exposure for your business or community group and a best of all it is a lot of fun.”Christmas in Cooroy is being held on Saturday 6 December, with the Bendigo Bank Street Parade commencing at 4pm.
