Rocks and reflection

POMONA Railway Station Gallery presents their next exhibition, Of Place and Contemplation, due to open 1 November.
Of Place and Contemplation is an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Margaret Gibson, and explores times of personal reflection.
“To sit on a massive rock beneath an enormous sky is a time for wonder and reflection,” Margaret said.
“In my exhibition, I remember and respond to those magic places and intriguing natural and man-made forms.
“There is no explanation for my creations, other than my need to revisit the shapes, colours and textures of place and contemplate the beauty of life.”
Having taught as a secondary teacher for close to 30 years, Margaret is now enjoying her own interpretations of nature through her paintings and ceramic sculptures.
“Small shells are like miniature palaces and are just as inspiring to me as monolithic rock formations or grand man-made structures,” she said.
“I hope to transfer some of the feeling and emotion I experience in those creations to my own work through the manipulation of line, form, texture and colour.”
The official opening for the exhibition is Saturday, 1 November, from 11am at the Pomona Railway Station Gallery, 10 Station St, Pomona.
