BRAD Pitt is back on the big screen alongside an all-star cast in the highly anticipated World War II film “Fury”, which is now showing at BCC Noosa Cinemas.
The year is 1945, the allies are making their final push into Europe as a battle-hardened army sergeant nicknamed Wardaddy, played by Pitt, commands a Sherman tank and a five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines.
The crew are out-numbered, out-gunned and have to deal with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon.
Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
Film critics have labelled Fury a somewhat “predictable” and “bloody” war film, which at first grapples with the camaraderie that develops between soldiers but then somewhat loses the plot in the glorified battle scenes.
The individual performances from Pitt and others including Shia LeBeouf and Michael Pena help bring the film together and make for some entertaining, albeit violent, viewing.
Further to this, 19,000 audience members have cast their votes and rated Fury 8.2 out of 10 on IMDB – which ranks it one of the highest rated films of 2014.
