THE most exciting event on the Environment Centre’s calendar this year is the coming launch of the association’s long-awaited 50th anniversary book.
Noosa Parks Association had a dream to produce a historical book of the environment battles won over the years together with stunning photographs of our area.
Of course, the sought-after and popular author and photographer Tony Wellington was NPA’s choice.
The book, titled, “Noosa and Cooloola” will have its launch on 26 November at the Environment Centre with the wonderful Sandra in charge of catering with her “Dream Team”.
These coffee table books are certain to be in great demand as Christmas presents for family and friends and will be available in local bookstores and outlets or at www.noosaparks.org.au They are priced at $44.95.
On Saturday 6 December, the Environment Centre will open to the public, showcasing the wonderful displays as part of the 21st birthday celebrations of Wallace Park. Come and join in on the day, visit the Environment Centre, talk to long-time volunteer Sandra, and learn about the many activities the Noosa Parks Association has to offer.
The annual members Christmas Party is on 14 December. Sandra will be overseeing the catering, as usual. The popular Christmas hamper raffle will be drawn on that day. This year, the first prize is a wonderful piece of artwork created by one of Queensland’s unique and internationally acclaimed artists, the late Christopher May.
Donated by Wendy May, the Rainbow Trout is one of a fish series produced under the name Pencilart. These all have a very unusual and mysterious quality of a fishing scene drawn microscopically into the eye of the fish. This is a limited edition print with a certificate of authenticity provided. So, if you are a connoisseur of art (or would like to be), call into the Environment Centre and purchase a ticket or two.
