Hats off to refs

By ANITA ANDERSON

Keeping in Touch…
I’d like to start off by thanking our referees for their time and effort that they put in each and every week to enable our games to be played.
Please make sure they know they’re appreciated. We were lucky enough to play last week’s games before the heat wave set in, but there was still scorching action to be seen on the paddock.
In the U10s Mexican Amigos had a win over the Purple Panthers with Joel and the Dwyer sisters leading the way for their teams. Touchdowns were the order of the day between Screaming Iguanas and GSLC (boys) with the Iguanas in front at the final siren.
Tyler, Amoy, Charlie and Jarvis had great games. Pink Storm went down fighting against Blazers, Makayla, Ava, Zane and Jake played well.
The U12 division saw Banana Splits show their fighting spirit in their loss to Devils with Abbi, Harrison, Jake and Cole giving strong performances. That Cool Team came away with the points against GSLC (girls). Pearl, Louise and Sophie had mighty games. Scorpions went down against Vipers with Jack, Max, Jake and Fraser played strongly. Saints had the edge over Purple Storm with Georgia, Leo and Jack showing great skill.
First up in the U14/16s saw GSLC (boys) account for NDSHS 8s (boys). Marat, Max and Joe-Max gave strong performances. In a tight tussle, NDSHS 9s took the game against SBSHS and NDSHS 8s (blue) went down to NDSHS 8s (green) with Lily, Keira Chloe and Reynae all putting in great efforts. Sunshine Rebels proved too strong for Inferno with Georgia, Tom and Ryan outstanding in the match.
Congratulations to the Noosa Ladies Masters team who came away with a silver medal at the recent Pan Pacific Masters Games held at the Gold Coast, a mighty effort. Due to an administrative error, the Men’s team were not included in the draw, I’m sure they also would have performed admirably.
Until the next touchdown…
