The graduating class of Good Shepherd Lutheran College was treated to a hero’s farewell as they took part in the traditional Walk of Honour.
Started in 2006, the Good Shepherd Walk of Honour has become a rite of passage for graduating Year 12 students to celebrate the end of their school years.
The experience is considered touching and emotional by many of the students who take part, with a selection of top songs from each year of their school life, from Prep in 2002 to now, playing as they make their way around the school.
All students from Prep to Year 11 line the school paths to clap and cheer as the Year 12 students soak up the atmosphere.
College vice-captain Isaac Goessling, who plans to study fine arts and technical production at QUT next year, said the walk was definitely an experience.
“(It was) a bit weird as this was an end of an era having been at Good Shepherd for Prep,” he said.
Laguna house captain Jannikka Balko described the walk as “amazing” and said she looks forward to studying psychological science at UQ next year.
“The walk through the college was so amazing and such an exhilarating experience,” she said.
Sports captain Jack Carey, who hopes to study games and interactive entertainment at QUT next year, said the walk was emotional.
“The walk went so quickly. It was quite a weird and emotional experience,” he said.
