School is out for summer and forever for the hundreds of Year 12 students throughout Noosa shire.
One senior cohort got a farewell of mythical proportions as the Noosa District State High School Year 12 co-ordinator Bernard Weekes took to the stage dressed as Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.
Mr Weekes had words of wisdom to impart for the graduating students, urging them to “look after one another” and to use and value the time they have on earth artfully as “it’s a fragile thing, this life we lead”.
The graduation parade was held at the school last Wednesday (19 November) and also featured the “changing of the guard” as the Year 12 school captains and leaders were thanked for their hard work and the Year 11 leaders took their new place.
Year 12 students who have achieved certificates in the rural fire fighting service were presented with awards as were the senior students who achieved excellence within sporting, academic and cultural fields.
Year 12 school captains Nadia Dunning and James Langton reflected on the year that was before taking a selfie from the stage with the graduating class of 2014.
The Year 12s were then farewelled by the school body as they left the hall after their final school parade at the school.
