DYNAMIC duo and Malu Os owners Kristy Patten and Linda Boyes have been working hard for the past 14 months to put their small eco friendly business on the map.
Their efforts were recognised last week when they received a Highly Commended Award for Business Sustainability during the Sunshine Coast Business Awards.
The pair only narrowly missed out on the main sustainability award, which was pegged by Australia Zoo.
Malu Os is an eco business that offers a range of luxury electric boats for hire and bicycle hire to explore Noosa River and Noosa – the green way.
The pair were relatively new to the world of business and were more accustomed to the classroom than being behind a till.
“We were both teachers before we started the business,” Ms Patten said.
“We had both wanted to start the business for a few years and when the chance came around to try, we jumped at it.”
Ms Boyes said Noosa Councillor Sandy Bolton provided an amazing quote about the business during the awards ceremony.
“Cr Bolton summed our business up really well,” Ms Boyes said.
“She said Malu Os is an activity that operates in harmony with natural environment while offering an attractive activity to visitors.”
