Nippers end year with tough comp

By DONNA FREY

WHAT a great evening it was for the Noosa Heads Nippers last Friday, with our Annual Wall to Wall swim. With what has now become a tradition with the Noosa Heads Nippers, the Wall to Wall swim is carried out as the major fund-raiser for the season, with all monies going to the Ronald McDonald House charity.
Nippers their siblings, parents and friends could all take part in the event which saw the participants challenge themselves with a surf swim from the groin back to in front of the clubhouse.
If that distance seemed a bit daunting, then participants could elect to swim with flippers or start a little closer to the finish line. Some of our Under 6s and 7s could even do it as a wade.
There were more than 70 competitors and plenty of water safety for all to participate, and we managed to raise over $300 for Ronald McDonald House.
In this very special time of year, it is gratifying to see the Nippers and their families giving back to the community.
Upon completion of the Wall to Wall, the families were treated to some great food and some lucky number draws.
Then Santa made a special appearance, taking time from his busy schedule, arriving by IRB to share some lollies and to make sure all the Noosa Heads Nippers are still on the nice list.
Noosa Nippers will recommence on Sunday 11 January. Until then, I wish you all a very happy, safe and merry Christmas. See you on the sand in 2015.
