Shooting shockwaves

A FATAL shooting in Tewantin sent shockwaves through the local community.
Police shot dead a 51-year-old man who was reportedly on a violent rampage when police were called to the Outlook Drive property on 23 November. The man was believed to be from Melbourne and was visiting the Tewantin home for a birthday party.
The incident gained national attention being one of three fatal police shootings in south-east Queensland within a week.
The shootings have led to an immediate review of policy, procedures and training for violent confrontations, while social media and news outlets were swamped with polarising views of whether officers should “shoot-to-kill“.
