TWO local artists will kick off the New Year with their “Zesty” new exhibition at the Butter Factory Arts Centre, Cooroy, from 30 January.
Kym Angelique Nelson and Sam Vatovey’s exhibition Zest will showcase their diverse and vivid artworks, as well as their passion for the local biosphere.
Each artists has interpreted the ocean and landscape in their own individual and unique styles. The beauty of the surrounding coast and hinterland is a constant source of inspiration for Kym, who has has exhibited widely throughout the region and has her work held in private collections both nationally and internationally.
“We’re thrilled to be selected to exhibit at the Butter Factory with its high calibre reputation. It is such a great venue and we are really looking forward to the opportunity of meeting with the local community,” Kym said.
Sam Vatovey explores her interest in landscape in her paintings for this exhibition as she recalls journeys she has taken and links language and words in her work to evoke myths and stories about our relationship to our landscape.
Chris Postle’s exhibition Coastal Awareness will also be open to the public. This exhibition addresses threats to the ocean such as over fishing and pollution from plastics.
The Zest exhibition will open on Friday 30 January, from 6pm, at the Butter Factory Arts Centre, 10 Maple Street, Cooroy.
The exhibition will run until 14 March.
