A 5.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the sleepy town of Eidsvolds, 120km west of Bundaberg, at 2am on Monday morning, cutting power to over 8000 homes.
The effects of the quake were felt throughout Queensland with many local residents from Noosa North Shore to Sunrise Beach reporting shaking.
Noosa Today Facebook likers reported trembles at Cooroy, Federal and Danielle Taylor of Black Mountain said her windows rattled and the dogs “lost their minds”.
Danny Mackay of Sunrise Beach said she felt her two-storey home sway and Noosa local Andrea Stokie, who is visiting Hervey Bay, said she woke up to strong trembling at 2am.
Noosa Today sales representative Tracey Combes said she woke to her windows and cupboard doors shaking.
“It was really scary,” she said.
“I didn’t know what it was.”
No one is believed to have been injured in the earthquake.
