P is for art

Pomona Gallery hanging team working hard to display the upcoming exhibitions.

The Pomona Railway Station Art Gallery is thrilled to host an extra special exhibition in the Carriage Room this August.

P is an exhibition of early childhood art for your young children. It’s a collaboration between the young children at Peregian Beach, Palmwoods, and Pomona Community Kindergartens. Over 60 children from the three kindergartens will contribute.

The exhibition focuses on our local fauna and birds, starting with the letter P using paintings, pens, patterns, pottery and (loose) parts.

Melindi Robertson, a retired early childhood teacher, has organised the exhibition.

Melindi says, “The exhibition aims to show the range of kindergarten children’s artwork, meeting the balance between challenge and creativity.”

P opens on Saturday 3 August, and continues until Thursday 5 September in The Gallery’s Carriage Room.

Australian landscape artist Shay Balmanno will show her exhibition, From Where I Stand, in the gallery’s Banana Shed.

The exhibition highlights her interpretation of the landscape and nature’s beauty.

Shay, from Peregian Springs, uses acrylic paint and multi-media to capture Australia’s “raw and atmospheric” landscape.

From Where I Stand officially opened on Saturday 27 July, and continues until Wednesday 28 August in The Gallery’s Banana Shed.

The volunteer-run Pomona Railway Station Gallery is at 10 Station St, Pomona. Opening hours are 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday; 10am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday.
