End of an era as club clears out

THE Noosa Heads Bowls Club (NHBC) is preparing to vacate its Lanyana Way, Noosa Junction, premises and everything must go. Local residents are invited to grab a bargain at the club’s monster garage sale this Saturday 18 April, from 7am to 11am.
The club’s management committee chairman Richard Wales said there would be a wide range of items on offer including bowls, office furniture and equipment, chairs, tables, cameras, electrical items, glassware, cash registers, cabinets and more.
Bargain-hunters must be prepared to take all purchases with them on the day as there is no option for storage or later collection of items.
“The Noosa Junction site has been home to the club for 45 years and as you can imagine we’ve accumulated a wide range of equipment and furniture over that time,” Mr Wales said.
The garage sale will not only help clear the premises before the club officially vacates the site in May, but proceeds will benefit one of the club’s long-term contractors and fellow members who is battling a serious disease.
“The garage sale is a great opportunity for the community to grab a bargain and at the same time contribute to a very worthwhile fund-raising effort to help the club look after one of its own in their time of need,” Mr Wales said.
The NHBC has been operating since 1970 and over the last three years has been leasing the grounds back from new site owner Coles.
Mr Wales said that while members will be leaving the site with heavy hearts in May, the club is proud of the contribution it has made to the region over the past 45 years and the legacy it will leave behind.
