Best birthday for Gympie A-leaguer

Gympie already has reason enough to be proud of young Samuel Kline, who has followed his football dreams to his first season in the A-League with the Brisbane Roar.

And while the club may not have had the best season so far, in Sam’s own words, they’ve fought hard to try and end the season on a high.

In Saturday’s match at HBF Park in Perth, against home team, The Glory, Sam was instrumental in securing the win for the Roar, scoring two of the three goals recorded against Perth’s single goal.

Not only were they his first goals in his A-League career, but it was also the lad’s 21st birthday, and he couldn’t have wished for a better present.

“To get my first goal, and then my second goal, and on my birthday, it’s a special feeling,” he said after the match.

“I really enjoyed it, I was buzzing, and what can make you happier?”

But there was more happiness ahead, with the young striker being awarded the Player of the Match award.

It’s a promising start to the young Gympie man’s career and anyone wanting to see the goals in replay can view them on the Brisbane Roar’s Instagram page at @brisbaneroarfc.

Next weekend, the Roar will come up against Auckland FC at Suncorp Stadium in their fourth-last home game for the season.
