TEWANTIN NOOSA BOWLS
WE are showcasing our club with an ‘extravaganza’ of bowls at Tewantin-Noosa Bowls Club from 3 to 18 May, at the same time living up to our reputation as being both capable and ‘friendly’ club due to the efforts of our many volunteers.
Queensland State/District Sides competed from 3 to 6 May, where 40 teams from all over Queensland participated over the four days. It was a great event with some excellent bowls played.
The Gold Coast teams featured in all the finals, but the Sunshine Coast teams flew the flag, with the women finishing third. Our men also finished third in Division 1 and second in Division 5.
We are currently co-hosting heats and all the finals of the Queensland State Championships, and over the past three days two results have already been decided.
The men’s singles winner in consecutive years was Canadian Ryan Bester (Broadbeach) defeating clubmate Sean Ingham in a nail-biter, 25/23.
The women’s fours winners were team Clarke (Helensvale) over Team Waitai (Broadbeach).
We are doing our best to fit in some social bowls around state bowls and appreciate the patience of our members.
‘Friendly Friday’ (on Thursday): winners were Connie Johnston, Val Reinicke and Peter Larke. Runners-up were our newest members Sharon Briggs, Keith Musgrave and Jenny Bowie. The jackpot of $155 was not won and carries over.
This week we are hoping to have two greens on both Wednesday and Friday.
Pennant season is nearly upon us, so we are looking for players and selectors in both the women’s and men’s sections. If you are interested please put your names up at the club.

Cooroy Community Bowls
IT was again busy on the bowls green this week. Thanks to all the organisers.
Tuesday jackpot pairs: Brian Mitchell and Garry Mitchell (not related), runners-up Glen and Ben.
Wednesday business bowlers: Such a fun loving groups and have three weeks left of the season due to rain-affected nights during the season. Thursday high rollers saw a very exciting finish to the season with three teams in the play-off, with Eumundi Boys coming out victors.
The final ladder is: Eumundi Boys 35, Bushrangers 35, Night Owls 35, Tag Team 32, 101’s 29, High Rollers 29, The Honey Pots 28, Rob & Co 28, Royal Flush 26, Galahs 20, Cormorants 19, Newbees 16, X-Factor 14, Incas 13.
Presentation night 14 May 6pm for 6.30pm. Names to Lynne. Thursday 28 May we will be starting at 4pm until 6pm and will call the league twilight triples. Names in please.
Men’s B Grade singles: Andy Flitter d Bruce Revie, Casey d Bill Haack, John Mohr d Roy Wall, Jack Kirkman d Brian Mitchell. Come along next Sunday to watch the semi-final commencing at 10am.
A new competition on Saturdays is the Cooroy Community Bowls against Ron’s Sportsman Challenge. Names in as soon as possible.
