New member flies onto Visit Sunshine Coast board

The region’s peak tourism body has welcomed a key figure in aviation to its leadership ranks, with Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) announcing the appointment of Chris Mills to its Board.

Mr Mills, who is Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Coast Airport, brings more than 35 years’ experience across aviation, tourism, events and property development.

Since taking the helm at the airport in October 2023, Mr Mills has overseen its continued growth as a critical gateway for the region, supporting increased connectivity and visitor numbers to destinations including Noosa.

He is currently leading the airport’s $170 million terminal expansion, along with future property development plans aimed at strengthening the region’s long-term economic outlook.

VSC Chair David Ryan said the appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Sunshine Coast and Noosa visitor economy.

“Chris brings valuable insight into aviation access, infrastructure planning and long-term regional growth,” Mr Ryan said.

“His experience will support our strategic focus on driving sustainable visitation and enhancing the Sunshine Coast’s position as a leading destination. We welcome Chris to the Board.”

Mr Mills said he was looking forward to working with industry partners across the region, including operators in Noosa, to support continued growth.

“Having worked in tourism and aviation in Queensland for many years, I am delighted to join the Visit Sunshine Coast Board,” he said.

“I look forward to working with the dedicated team. They do a fantastic job promoting our region and supporting members.”

Visit Sunshine Coast is the official Regional Tourism Organisation for the local government areas of Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie, promoting the region to domestic and international visitors. As a member-based organisation, VSC delivers marketing and promotional initiatives designed to strengthen the tourism industry and maximise the long-term benefits of the visitor economy.
