Multi-instrumentalist Mitch King at the Imperial Hotel

Mitch King will be playing at the Imperial supported by songbird Andrea Kirwin.

Put Saturday 28 March in your diary for what will be mighty fine gig in The Bunker at The Imperial Hotel Eumundi when one-man band singer-songwriter MITCH KING takes to the stage, supported by songbird ANDREA KIRWIN.

MITCH KING

Multi-instrumentalist Mitch King is renowned for his dynamic performances which showcase his ability to simultaneously blend vocals with electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, kick drum and tambourine to create his unique folky blues n roots sound.

Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Mitch has always loved music, spending many a family road trip listening to artists such as AC/DC, Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Neil Young and Coldplay, and first picking up the guitar at 14. He’d spend hours playing and listening to music and connected with John Mayer’s ‘Continuum’, sparking his fascination with electric guitar, and leading him to discover Jimmy Hendrix and Santana.

It was Australian folk, rock and blues singer Kim Churchill, who Mitch saw perform at Woodford Folk Festival, that inspired Mitch to embrace his talent.

When he turned 15, Mitch began busking in his hometown of Mt Tambourine. With an acoustic guitar in his hand, and playing the only four songs he knew on repeat, he earned enough money to buy his first car and build up his music gear arsenal.

In 2014, Mitch independently released his first album ‘A Life Under The Sun’. The single Coming Back was picked up by the US football team the Green Bay Packers, who played his song at their season opening match. During this time, Mitch made the bold decision to move into a campervan, to travel around Australia performing at festivals and venues. He entered the Tamworth Country Music Festival Busking Competition, where he performed to 5,000 people and won the competition, then only a few weeks later, was crowned “Hottest New Act” at St Kilda Festival.

In 2016, Mitch released an EP ‘Southerly Change’, which went straight to the top of the blues chart, where it remained for 10 days straight.

More recently, Mitch has released the singles Burning (more than 2.5 million streams) and Believe.

Recent artist supports include Tones And I, America The Band, and Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson.

This year Mitch is focusing on writing new music and collaborating with artists including The Temper Trap, the Pierce Brothers, and Diesel.

ANDREA KIRWIN

Originally from Townsville and the eldest daughter of a Fijian preacher, Andrea grew up singing three part harmonies with her siblings and learnt AMEB piano from an early age.

Music was her constant companion throughout her education, however it wasn’t until her 21st birthday that Andrea was gifted a guitar by a good friend, and she began writing songs after being inspired by her first live concert by Australian Artist Clare Bowditch.

The foundation of Andrea’s songwriting is love, unity, peace and community.

Over the past ten years, Andrea has been steadily building a national following since first taking to the stage as one half of duo/band ‘The Andi and George Band’ in Canberra in 2007, and as a solo artist from 2009 to now.

With a warm and disarming stage presence, an angelic voice, heart-filled lyrics and entertaining stories, Andrea continues to share her beautiful songs with all who wish to listen.

Andrea founded her own independent record label Peace Run Records in 2009 and has since released three full length albums: ‘From the Ground Up’ (2013), ‘The Story of Us’ (2015), and ‘A Quiet Revolution’ (2017).

Her music can be described as feel good, soul-infused songs from the heart.
